A DAY OF RECKONING:

I can claim that my active interest in the Rwandan politics started on March 2, 1997. That date will remain forever engraved in my memory. In the morning of March 2, 1997 a company of Tutsi soldiers of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) army, the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA), encircled the villages and small towns of my origin, in Jenda, Cellule Kabatezi, Sector Nkuri, Prefecture Ruhengeri, Northwestern Rwanda.

JOHANNESBURG — In the largest protest in years, tens of thousands of people demonstrated in South Africa's major cities on Friday to demand the resignation of President Jacob Zuma after his dismissal of a well-respected finance minister intensified concerns about government corruption.
Marches in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria brought together a mix of political opponents, civil society leaders and ordinary South Africans, united in their message that Mr. Zuma had lost the moral authority to lead the nation. Supporters of Mr. Zuma and his governing African National Congress held smaller counterprotests in Durban and Johannesburg.

A diplomatic row between Rwanda and the United Nations (UN) over the definition of what unfolded in Rwanda in 1994 'genocide' has overshadowed the preparations for this year's commemoration event.

As an expression of displeasure with the United Nation's reference of the mass killings in 1994 as 'Genocide in Rwanda', officials of President Paul Kagame's administration have indicated that they will snub the ceremony hosted by the UN in Gigiri, Nairobi, tomorrow.

[haguruka.com] On Kagame's recent visit to Vatican

 

THE PASSION OF CHRIST IN THE VATICAN TODAY (JOAN CARRERO, 03.25.2017)

Last Monday Pope Francis received, in the  halls of the Vatican, with full honours,  a firm handshake and an historic smile on his face, an authentic monster: Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda. It seems that the debate will never end about the position taken by Pius XII in the face of Nazism and, especially on the question of whether  his silence over the Nazi genocide can be explained by fear of provoking reprisals and even graver consequences. But at least I have never had to look upon a picture of a such a cordial meeting  between Pius XII and Adolf Hitler as the one that took place last Monday in the Vatican. The photo of the meeting between Paul Kagame and the successor to the one that Lord Jesus himself chose to confirm the other disciples in the faith (Luke 22, 31-32) is profoundly desolate and disturbing for those Christians  who know of the reality that was lived, and lives yet in Rwanda and Congo.
