UCL Global Excellence Graduate Scholarships

UCL Global Excellence Scholarships aim to reward academic excellence among new UCL students.
There are a total of eight scholarships per session for the academically most outstanding  graduate students joining UCL. Students enrolling on joint programmes (programmes run by UCL and another university) are not eligible. One graduate award is reserved for a student resident in each of the following regions:
  • The UK
  • Europe (excluding the UK, but including Russia)
  • Africa
  • Indian sub-continent and the Middle East
  • China, North- and Central South-East Asia
  • Australasia
  • North America
  • Central and South America including the Caribbean

Eligibility Requirements

Students do not need to apply for the scholarship. Candidates must have applied for admission to UCL for degree study at graduate level to be considered for an award.
Each Academic Department must make their nominations for the awards by 28 March 2014 and so it is recommended that you apply for admission as early as possible.

Selection Criteria

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, achievement and potential. Financial circumstances of the candidates are not taken into account.
The region category for which you will be considered will be determined from your answer to the question on the admission application form which asks for your country of ordinary residence.

Value: Benefits and Duration

The scholarships consist of £5,000 and are tenable for one year only. Scholarship funds may be applied to fees or paid out in three instalments payable at the start of each term.

Nominations Deadline and Procedure

There is no application procedure for students. Candidates are nominated by Departments and Faculties.
Students must have received an offer of a place from the department by the final deadline of 11 April 2014 to be considered.

Graduate Selection and Notification of Results

A panel of UCL academics will select the recipients of the eight regional awards from nominations put forward by the Faculties, and will also identify reserve candidates.
Selection results will be announced to Faculties and successful candidates in June.
